Van Mechelen handles Personal Data as carefully as possible.

Personal data is data that can be traced back directly or indirectly to you and that is left behind when you use our services. We use personal data that you have provided to us or of which it is clear when you provide us that they are provided to us to process and store and to inform you about our work and business activities.

Van Mechelen needs your personal data to enter into and execute contracts, conduct business activities, keep our administration and comply with legal obligations.

When purchasing, we are obliged under the Criminal Code to request and record your personal data (name and address). In the case of cash purchases of copper/copper alloys, there is a legal obligation to register the number and type of ID.

How long do we store the personal data:

Van Mechelen does not store your personal data for longer than is strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which your data is collected. The law has different periods, which differ per personal data and/or per purpose for which the data was provided.
Under tax legislation, a retention period of 7 years applies to the accounts receivable and accounts payable administration.

Sharing personal data with third parties:

Van Mechelen shares your personal data with various third parties if this is necessary for the execution of agreements and/or its business activities and to comply with legal obligations. We enter into a processing agreement with companies that process your data on our behalf, where necessary, to ensure at least the same level of security and confidentiality of your data. In addition, Van Mechelen may provide your personal data to other third parties; we only do this with your express permission.

Your rights:

You have the right to request to view your personal data and obtain a copy thereof, the right to submit a request for correction, supplementation and deletion of personal data. In addition, you have the right to request restriction of processing, the right to request data to be obtained digitally and to request data to be transferred (data portability). If the processing of personal data is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw it, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing before the withdrawal.
You have the right to object to us against the processing of your personal data.

Your requests will be handled in accordance with the GDPR. The GDPR stipulates, among other things, that a request for deletion cannot be granted if that personal data is necessary to fulfill a legal obligation. We will respond to your request as quickly as possible, but in any case within 1 month. To ensure that the request has been made by you, we may ask you for further information to clarify your identity.

We would also like to point out that you have the option to file a complaint with the national supervisory authority, the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

If you do not provide or no longer provide your personal data, we may not be able to execute agreements and comply with our contractual and legal obligations, as a result of which we will not be able to conclude and/or continue them with you.

Security

Van Mechelen will process and secure your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and in a proper and appropriate manner. This is to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorized modification. Automated decision making:

Van Mechelen does not make decisions based on automated processing on matters that could have (significant) consequences for people. This concerns decisions that are made by computer programs or systems, without a human being involved (for example an employee of Van Mechelen). Van Mechelen does not use cookies or similar techniques via our website.
